Notes from a rescuer...

We Simply MUST get our own shelter!

We are over run with dogs and cats needing sanctuary. In the space that we currently rent, we have more dogs than we should. The puppies are getting too big for the puppy pens and are fighting due to cramped space. The dogs are getting less time outside for play due to the numbers and the limitation of 2 small play yards. We have about 10 dogs boarding in vet clinics, and several dogs in temporary foster homes. Additionally, I have received approximately 15 calls this weekend from people who need us to help them with some stray cat or dog who has wandered up or been dumped upon their property.

We have a site chosen in Rankin County which would fit our needs, however the grant we have been given for purchasing a site is quite a bit shy of the amount needed to just purchase the property, much less retrofit it for a shelter.

We have a study shared with us by another rescue organization that shows; out of the stray animal pick ups by animal control officers, Rankin County has the highest number of pick ups. 94 percent of those pick ups are euthanized. If we had our shelter, we could not only help the local animal control officers and communities with stray animal issues, we could help the animals with a safe secure place while we acclimated them to life with humans who care.

August 3rd, we are having our first fundraiser, however it is only going to be able to supplement our operations costs and get the public aware of our existence. We will need foundation help in order to achieve our deep desire for the purchase of this much needed shelter.
